Behind the Design: From Technical to Trendy—Get Every Detail on Our Newly Relaunched VSX Collection

Meet Kira Fisher, she’s Victoria’s Secret’s VP of design and oversees VSX, Swim, Apparel, and Accessories. Fisher has been with the brand for over nine years, and we had the chance to sit down with the industry veteran to talk all things VSX. Read on to learn about the inspiration behind the collection, special design details, and much (much!) more.

What’s the most important thing you want people to know about this collection?

“VSX is more than a sport collection—it’s a lifestyle at the intersection between performance and fashion. We understand each woman’s body is unique with its own contours and proportions. Through body mapping details we embrace the curves of every body. We’ve created garments that provide the optimum support, comfort, confidence, and ease as you live your life from day to night.”

What is the inspiration/story behind VSX?

“As we see the trend in sport coming back and just knowing that we want to be with the customer through her whole life—being active is part of that—so, we wanted to come back with a collection that’s relevant where it feels like it offers the customer more than just being active in the traditional way of sport.”

What makes these fabrics so special?

“VSX Elevate™ is our new core legging franchise—it features our XDefine™ fabric which has almost 278% stretch (most legging fabrics average 134%). Its excellent elasticity helps the garment conform to your body, which in turn offers a super-comfortable wearing experience.

VSX Activate™ is also a core legging franchise—it features our XReact™ fabric, which offers the same high stretch benefit as the XDefine™, but in addition has a yarn structure inspired by pinecones. The fabric expands with moisture to allow quicker evaporation and closes when dry.”

Tell us about some details you’re obsessed with.

“The Refined Contours collection is all about the body mapping—to help contour, lift, and support. The lines on the bras help to lift and support your bust. We also have it on the leggings, so it wraps around to give you that best butt. So, loving these details.”

Tell us about the wear-test process.

“We have rigorous testing protocols when it comes to our sport line. All our sports bras go through intense testing where we have people run to test the encapsulation, the movement, to really understand if the bra is going to be low, medium, or high support.

We also have intense testing with our fabrics. We make sure there’s no pilling, no tearing, and to make sure it actually grows and moves with you and goes back to shape.

And then all our woven and apparel pieces, they have all the attributes, like water resistant, quick drying—all the things you want to have in a sport-wear line.”

What’s something you changed after receiving customer feedback?

“I do go deep into the customer feedback on Instagram, TikTok, and our website. But something important that customers have been calling out is comfort. I think that’s at the center of how we design things.”

What does the “X” mean to you?

“The X is the x-factor! X stands for the intersection. The intersection between performance and fashion, form and function, sexy and tech.”
