Imaan is a longtime VS model, so there was no way we were bringing back the fashion show without her. We’re (so!) excited to formally let you know that she’ll be taking to the runway this fall along with the other iconic women we’ve already announced (and some more exciting names to come). Read on to learn about her thoughts on the return of the show, how she’s preparing, and more.
Q: How does it feel to be part of the show’s return?
A: “I’m beyond excited! I’ve always loved the classic Victoria’s Secret shows and the unique concepts behind them. To see them come back is not only thrilling to the models, but to the fans who have been watching the shows for years. The last time I walked, I was 18 years old—and 10 years later, I’m back!”
Q: What does the show’s return mean to you?
A: “I think the show brings a lot of joy and happiness to the audience. The celebration of women will be the focus of the show’s return and usher us into a new era. It will be part nostalgia seeing the show back, but it is returning in a modern light and I’m excited to be part of its renewal.”
Q: What are you most excited about?
A: “My fitting with the VS team! The anticipation leading up to that first fitting and finally seeing the look in person is an indescribable feeling.”
Q: What do you think the show returning means for other women?
A: “I think all women should be celebrated and represented. I’m excited to see Victoria’s Secret shine a light on all types of women and continue to empower them on the runway and at home.”
Q: What’s your first memory with Victoria’s Secret?
A: “I was just 11 years old when I watched my first VS show. Seeing Gisele and Adriana Lima strut down the runway on the TV was so special and inspiring. It would be broadcasted in the Netherlands, and I would stay inside to watch the girls walk every year after that with my friends and family. It was always something we looked forward to!”
Q: How do you feel most strong?
A: “When I’m grounded and when I am surrounded by the ones I love and visit home. My roots have always been a part of what makes me, me. I love my work and am blessed to have the career I do, and what enriches me is taking time be with the ones who have strengthened and supported me along the way.”
Q: What’s one thing you wish more people knew about you?
A: “I have a strong passion for music and discovering new artists that started in my early childhood listening to Egyptian and Moroccan artists with my family. Music is a part of my everyday life— making me feel stronger, tying me to my loved ones and plays as a reminder of where I came from. This year, I starred in my good friend, Mustafa the Poet’s, music video for his song titled ‘Imaan’. The video was a celebration of his talent and our shared culture, it was an honor to bring that to life.”
