Lingerie Diaries: A Day in the Life of the Featherweight Max Sports Bra

Lingerie Diaries: A Day in the Life of the Featherweight Max Sports Bra

Under (almost) every one of my great outfits—from workout wear to going-out wear to anywhere—is a raggedy old sports bra I have worn to death. Seriously, my greatest fear is someone seeing my rotation of sports bras (think deodorant stains, loose threads, and a band that’s elastic has been stretched to the brink). All of this is to say, I put my sports bras through the ringer, and I am a bit particular about my wardrobe workhorse.

Luckily, I have been presented with a challenge to wear the Featherweight Max for an entire day, which not only allows me to don a brand-new, elastic-in-tact style, but also lets one of my older sports bras finally ride off into the sunset and enjoy a well-deserved retirement (we thank you for your years of service and literal support).

Let’s get to it—I present you 24 hours in my new sports bra. May the odds (and deodorant stains) be ever in your favor.

6:45AM

I need everyone to prepare themselves for potential chaos, because I started off an entire day in this bra with (drum roll) a workout. Does that mean I signed myself up to sit in a piece of clothing all day that I had sweat in? Yes. Does that also mean I am putting the “quick dry” claim this bra makes to the test? Also, yes. You’re welcome (hair toss).

For the sake of myself and everyone else I was going to encounter, my workout was a low-sweat-inducing walk. I hit the treadmill in leggings, a cropped, long-sleeve top, and the bra for about 90 minutes (10,000 steps, baby!). I do have to say, this bra holds you in. My 36Cs weren’t going anywhere, i.e. no dreaded bounce. I noticed it was also super lightweight—overall I felt comfortable.

PSA: I know how some people feel about cups in their sports bras—if you’re not a fan, don’t worry. While upon first glance, it looks like this style has them, but I can promise you—once it’s on the body—the bra lays flat (no excess material, bulging, etc.). Consider your fears assuaged.

9:00AM

After a shower and robust skincare routine, I got dressed. On this day, I worked from home, so I went with something casual—black loose pants, a tee, cozy sweater, and—of course—the Featherweight Max. Eat your heart out, corporate America.

And for the next eight hours, I worked. No, no coworkers complimented me on how supported and lifted my chest looked through the Teams screen (because that’s an HR violation), but I feel confident that’s what I was exuding. All jokes aside, I spent the day feeling good, comfortable, and, I truly think because of the compression, it helped my posture.

2:45PM

A co-worker was nice enough to “give me 15 minutes back” (IYKYK), so I took this as a chance to literally run and get a coffee. My outfit stayed the same, but I put on a puffer jacket and I was out the door. I can confidently say, while bobbing and weaving through the streets of New York like I was in a high-speed chase, the bra kept things under control.

7:00PM

Now it’s easy to style this bra for exercise and under something cozy for a casual look, but I was going out with friends for dinner, and the bra needed to be the guest of honor. So, why not make the bra the top? Sure, it’s 38 degrees in New York, but I’m not letting that stop me.

I started with the bra, threw on a leather jacket, and paired it with loose denim and boots. I finished it off with a long coat for the commute, and honestly, this look was a vibe. Since it’s a sports bra, it wasn’t overly boob forward and more-so read as a crop top. This is a great in-between styling choice if you’re not ready to fully commit to the bra-as-a-shirt trend.

11:00PM

Another completed challenge in the books and I’m ready for bed. The bra is coming off, but here is a quick list of what we’ve learned today:

  1. The Featherweight Max really is quick drying—it didn’t even feel like I had worked out in it as the day went on.
  2. The fit and look of the bra is 10/10
  3. Comfort and compression aren’t mutually exclusive.
  4. I really need to refresh my sports bra collection more often.

See you next time.
