Envision the most iconic Victoria’s Secret Swim moments of all time. What typically comes to mind are spectacular images of top supermodels cavorting around exotic beaches in glamorous suits. What’s not to love?
We took the best parts of those original designs and campaigns to bring vintage-inspired suits into the modern age creating made-to-be-seen styles from the new VS Archives Swim Collection. We sat down with Alanna Kendall, senior swimwear designer, to learn more about the pieces.
“We wanted to tap into the true essence of the brand by reintroducing pieces that really capture an emotional connection to the customer,” says Kendall.
The capsule features instantly collectible separates including the strappy bandeau bikini set originally made famous on (above) Candice Swanepoel circa 2010. Featuring minimal Brazilian coverage, luxe gold hardware, and a timeless ‘wow’ factor (tan lines encouraged).
“It’s really about the full package: Super-sexy swimwear, iconic models, and amazing locations.” says Kendall, who helped to create the latest styles—as well as the authentic Y2K pieces that inspired them.
Throughout the VS Archives lineup, details like crochet, macrame, and fringe tap into a bohemian vibe that echo some of the chic styles showcased in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Swim Special filmed in Costa Rica.
