We spent the past 2+ years working with over 600 women perfecting our new-and-improved Panties. ​They stretch, smooth, and practically sing happy birthday to you. We chatted with Amy Gianforcaro, Design Director of Victoria’s Secret Body Intimates & Shapewear, to get the nitty-gritty details on what’s changed, why, and how it benefits you. Read on to discover what makes these Panties so revolutionary.

Updated Leg Opening

What does it look like and how does it benefit you?

Envision a lineup of Panties ranging in silhouettes—you know what tiny detail is defining each cut? The leg opening. To put it into a fashion reference, the cuts of Panty legs are akin to the difference between the low-rise jeans of the early aughts and the mid-rise jeans of today. A few millimeters, inches of fabric, a tiny dip here, and some rise there can create a huge difference. Same goes for panties.  

So, how did we update our leg openings? We straightened them, which might sound counterintuitive to women’s naturally curved bodies, but trust us, this updated silhouette is the instant upgrade you never knew you needed. That pin-neat, straight line from pubic to hip both better covers your natural bikini line and is far more current and flattering. The extra coverage comes without any bulk, wrinkling, or awkward seams. They lay flatter, smoother, and more invisible than ever before.

Raised Back Waist

So, how does this help with fit?

We increased the back coverage of every Panty style—just a half inch, but that’s all it takes to do its magic. This helps every cut and size accommodate all bodies. That dip in the back is the thing that makes your Panties feel like they’re too small even if they’re the right size. 

But don’t take our word for it—put it to the test: bend over, flex, jump, and kick. How are your panties holding up while you do this? With our updated styles you have officially entered a no-dropping, no-drooping, full-coverage zone. This means when you slip on even the tiniest pair of briefs, they will pull up onto your waist in a way that feels natural, comfortable, and flattering. 

Wider Gussets 

Let’s be real—what is a gusset anyway and why should you care how wide or small it is?

Ready to get technical? A gusset is that strip of fabric that lines the crotch on a pair of Panties. Seems simple enough—a little fabric, some light layering, hey, no problem, right? Wrong. Bodies, hips, pubic areas, and vaginas come in all shapes, sizes, depths, breadths, and widths. And what’s the point of Panties if they don’t comfortably cover where you want them to? So, we made them wider. Cut perfectly on a size-by-size basis to thoughtfully balance proportions in all direction, they’re also crafted more intelligently with smoother, more-accommodating fabric that moves with you.  

PS, all our gussets are made from advanced, anti-microbial fabric. They’re the highest quality, healthiest, and most breathable.

Wider Elastic Waistbands

Why do Panties do that dreaded roll-over on the top and how did we make it stop?

Well this was a no brainer. Those teeny strips of elastic holding up the Panties were rolling down, sagging, bagging, and cutting in. We made our elastic edging wider, lighter, and gently snugger and more secure to fit in a more confident, long-lasting way. It’s one of the iconic design details we’re referencing when we say our Panties are built to last. The waistline will sit comfortably without a seam in sight under any clothing.

Heat-Stamped Tags

Visible tags on your “invisible” silhouettes? Not anymore!

A while back, we launched our No-Show Thongs: clean, contoured, and perfect (except for one little thing—that fabric tag sewn onto it). Well, don’t worry, they’re gone and replaced with a specially created heat-stamped tag fused into the fabric, so you get all the info you need without sacrificing that seamless look and feel.

Adjusted Side Seam Grading

Simply put, how did tailoring revolutionize our Panties?

This is a seemingly small, highly technical detail, but it makes all the difference. Much like how we changed the gussets to fit every size, we updated side seam width to reflect the size of the Panty. It allows for a more customized, tailored, flat, and flattering fit.

Fabrics

Are they anti-microbial?  

Yes. Fabric is such an essential factor to creating the perfect panty. Our classic raw-cut fabric is breathable, moisture wicking, seamless, and anti-microbial. In short… amazing. 

Extra-Touchable Lace 

The people need to know—is the new lace fabric comfortable? 

Our design team rigorously worked through the touch, feel, stretch, and resilience of our lace fabric, asking questions like: Does it wash well? Is it light as air? It needs to feel as good as it looks. Technically, the fabric upgrade is something called Textronic construction. In normal terms, it means improved, supersoft hand feel, more stretch and comfort, plus, overall higher quality.

And, as always, all of these perfected panties have and equally perfect bra to match them.
